For Candidates

Recruitment, hiring and retention in school mental health have been challenging for some time, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Community-Based Organizations and school systems have experienced increases in turnover, creating gaps in care and budget shortfalls. The cost of staff attrition is significant.

MOMENTUM seeks to increase the ability to hire excellent candidates through focused local and national recruiting of BIPOC and multilingual clinicians, provide targeted training that enhances equity focused and culturally attuned practice and builds clinician resiliency through self reflective and growth centered practice.

The Residency offers comprehensive and culturally-nuanced individual and group clinical supervision, professional mentorship, and quarterly multi-day retreats that combine cohort team building, didactic training, practical and experiential exercises, reflections on ethics, boundaries and collective care, with an overarching focus on examining and mitigating health disparities in disproportionately impacted groups.

Time will be spent on learning how to successfully navigate the challenges of working in a school community.
